Leica Collaboration

There is probably no logo as famous as the Leica red dot or cameras as prestigious as those pioneered by Leica.

The Foundation began its partnership with Leica in 2022. One of the most famous names in photography, many of the world’s most iconic photographs were, and continue to be, taken with Leica cameras.

With its mantra that “The World Deserves Witnesses”, the company is now sponsoring young photographers from some of the world’s most disadvantaged communities to bear witness to – and empower – the societies in which they live.

The W2S/Leica collaboration aims to roll out a series of photography programmes across the USA. The inaugural collaboration took place in Los Angeles in 2022 and offered opportunities to some of the most marginalised communities in East LA. A follow up course has just finished in 2023 wherein students from last year’s project were trained to teach their contemporaries as we move from city to city across America. The journey will continue in 2024 and beyond.
